2017 - 2018 District Teacher of the Year
Jesica Gilliam

We are proud to announce Mrs. Jesica Gilliam as our 2017-2018 Plainview Public Schools Teacher of the Year. Jesica graduated from Northeastern State University in 2001 with a Bachelors in Education. Jesica states:

“As far back as I can remember I have had the desire to become an educator. As a student I was blessed by many caring and inspirational educators. They instilled a thirst for knowledge that I am still in search of today. I feel that the profession of educating students is an honor and a privilege. I look at each day as a new opportunity to be taught by inquisitive students and fellow inspirational colleagues.”

Mrs. Gilliam has fifteen years of experience teaching first, third, fourth, and fifth grade. Her peers state:

“Jesica teaches in a variety of ways to meet the needs of all learners and is willing to go above and beyond for all students. She has a passion and enthusiasm for reaching every student where they are academically and challenging them to the next level and is always learning new ways to ensure all students are successful. Jesica comes up with ways to incorporate reading with other subjects to create high interest experiences for each student, and her love for teaching the heart of each child is contagious with her peers. You will also find her helping with extra-curricular activities. Jesica Gilliam inspires us to be the best teachers we can be.”

Jesica Gilliam has a true servant’s heart. Not only does she serve children at school but also outside of school within her community. She serves as Sunday School Director, Vacation Bible School Director, and Children’s Ministry Leader at Cheek Baptist Church in Lone Grove.

When and if she has any spare time, Jesica enjoys watching her kids participate in football, wrestling, baseball, and ranch rodeos. She also likes taking pictures for family and friends and working on projects with her husband, David.
